Best Transitional Design
Jan 2024

At the Carpet Design Awards 2024, Sundari Devi’s Hamare Jeevan Ki Roti won Best Transitional Design, celebrating a masterful blend of tradition and modernity. Hand-knotted in wool and silk, this Manchaha rug beautifully narrates the agricultural journey-from sowing seeds to harvesting millets-reflecting Sundari’s own life as a farmer and artist. Her design is a poetic tribute to the “anndata” (givers of food), symbolizing the essence of survival and human resilience. With each knot, she weaves not just a rug, but a story of struggle, sustenance, and spirit.
