Falsafa

Falsafa

Falsafa is a hand-knotted carpet by Beerbal, featuring zig-zag patterns, diamonds, and symbolic motifs like a lotus, tree, and boat, reflecting life’s challenges, growth, and the beauty of embracing its journey.

A jail inmate and an artistic weaver, Beerbal named his carpet "Falsafa," which translates to "Philosophy" in English, to symbolize life's journey with its highs and lows. Inspired by the art of origami and paper cuttings, he began weaving zig-zag patterns and diamond motifs into the hand-knotted rug. Beerbal explained that the zig-zag patterns represent life's challenges and joys, emphasizing that it's up to us to bring color and vibrancy to our experiences. To illustrate this philosophy, he used vibrant colors against a muted backdrop. In addition to the zig-zag patterns, Beerbal incorporated symbolic elements such as a lotus flower, a tree, and a boat into the carpet. These symbols further reflect his belief in resilience, growth, and navigating life's journey with grace. Through "Falsafa," Beerbal showcased his artistic skill and shared a philosophical message about embracing life's complexities and finding beauty in its various facets.
