We have
undertaken certain research studies to understand the
plight of rural weavers, their hopes, ambitions and
their struggles. Our team has spent days and nights to
figure out what goes wrong in their lives, who is
exploited, what do they do to earn a peaceful living and
how can it be improved. Innocent weavers at times do not
even realize that they are under paid and are left at
the mercy of their traders to give them work.
After analyzing their prevailing situation, we further
elaborated on the following for their betterment:
• Study on skill development, technology, design,
market, working capital and other issues
• Informal sector workers and their contribution in the
regional/national economy
• Research study for global market potential for Indian
carpets and rugs
• Rehabilitation of sex workers through meaningful
occupation in carpet weaving
• Research about weavers villages to understand deeply
their needs and problems |
