and JRF signed MOU for providing education to weavers
and their children
Jaipur Rugs Foundation (JRF) with the support of Jenny
Jones Rugs (JJ), a reputed Australian carpet supplier
and retailer has initiated an innovative project
targeted at providing basic education to the illiterate
masses involved in carpet weaving.
The project named Alternative Education Program, in its
pilot phase, is aimed at educating 250 artisans,
especially women in five villages of Rajasthan without
losing their productive time and earning. The areas
covered would chiefly focus on basic numeracy literacy,
sanitation awareness, health education largely by
organizing night classes. The project also aims to
promote higher education by providing scholarships to
the deserving ones,’.
